If you did not already know I love being organized. Yes, I have been organized since a child and have been helping clients get organized for 28 years. I truly love the way being organized has impacted my life. From my space and time to my finances and health I wanted to share with you as we approach Valentine’s Day the reasons why I love being organized.
I can find my flashlight. Years ago when entertaining friends there was a blackout and after the jokes of me not paying my utilities stopped I knew I needed to get some light and fast. I asked the person who stood near the drawer where I kept my flashlight to open it and grab the flashlight in the front. My guests were surprised at how fast it was retrieved and some began to joke that they had no clue where theirs was located. We were able to continue our night of fun using candles (which we were able to locate since we had the flashlight).
I can get dressed in minutes A friend called and asked me if I had any plans because she wanted someone to go with her to IKEA and The Container Store. It did not take much time for me to say yes and to pull my look together. Having an organized closet and dresser drawers allowed me to pull together an outfit in minutes and spend time with my friend shopping at my favorite stores.
I am more in control of my money. Back in the early 2000’s when I was paying down a debt, I noticed that the amount they stated I owed was more than what I had in my records. I wrote them a letter and ask if they would look into the matter. I received a wonderful response saying they apologize for the error on their part. I saved myself $200.
I am more in control of my health. Back in 2006 I had health challenges which resulted in me needing medication for high blood pressure. After taking the medication I noticed my pressure began to drop too low (I would take my blood pressure several times a day) so I contacted my doctor and scheduled an appointment. During our discussion I shared how I was feeling but also showed her a chart which listed my blood pressure readings that I took throughout the day. As a result of our talk and my health journal she decided it would be best if the dosage was reduced so that I could slowly be taken off the medication. That was over 17 years ago and I have not once needed the medication again.
