As some of you may know, in February Karen Taylor (no relation) interviewed me and the topic was Give Yourself Permission To Get Organized.
Following are 3 areas I discussed in the interview that I believe will help you on your journey to living an organized life.
Give yourself permission to say no.
It is ok to say no because NO is a complete sentence. Our schedules can sometimes get as full as our closets so it is necessary to delete things that drain our time and energy. The best way to do this is making sure you have a life plan. With a life plan you will be less inclined to take on something that pulls you away from those short /long term goals. Once you know what your life goals are then you can plan your schedule around it.
Give yourself permission to let go of the past.
Get that shredder ready and let go of the baggage(paperwork) from the past that no longer defines who you are.
- The rejection letter from the job you didn’t get
- The credit card application that was not approved
- The statements from the debt that has been paid off
- The onboarding documents from the job you hated and left years ago
Just think about it, less paperwork in your home is less you have to think about or store. Also, statistics states that 80% of the stuff we keep we never reference again.
Give yourself permission to embrace who you are.
The majority of us have put on a pound or two and clothes that we wore before March 2020 we can longer fit. Also, many of you will be working from home permanently or going in the office a few times a week. Do you still need to keep your entire corporate wardrobe? Embrace who you are and what you will be wearing. Remember it is not about size, it is about health.
